Speaking on behalf of 1001 Inventions, Producer and Director, Ahmed Salim said: “This exhibition highlights achievements from the Golden Age of Muslim Civilisation, during which scientists of various faiths worked together, building upon the knowledge of ancient civilisations to make groundbreaking advances in many fields such as medicine, engineering, astronomy and architecture. These advances helped pave the way for the European Renaissance and their breakthroughs have left their marks on our lives today.

“I am delighted that we will have the opportunity to engage with audiences of all ages in the beautiful city of Rotterdam. Visitors from the other regions of The Netherlands are also invited to enjoy the exhibition that will be offered in both the Dutch and English languages. The overall experience will be highly interactive – featuring hands-on mechanical exhibits, short films, live shows, video games, workshops for schools and children.”

Speaking on behalf of the hosts, Daria Kremenskaia said: “This 1001 Inventions blockbuster exhibition has attracted millions of visitors around the world and now gets its premiere in the Netherlands. Post Kantoor in Rotterdam is proud to welcome its latest exhibition, which will welcome visitors here from 29th of August 2014 up to and including 11th of January 2015. The 1001 Inventions exhibition features a diverse range of exhibits, to enthrall visitors and enrich their knowledge, spread over more than 1000 square metres. The exhibits will be themed across seven main zones, with each highlighting achievements and discoveries in a certain field – such as engineering, agriculture, medicine and surgery, geography, astronomy, and education.

An introductory film, “1001 Inventions and the Library of Secrets”, starring the Oscar-winning Sir Ben Kingsley will welcome visitors to the exhibition. Winner of 27 international awards, the film reflects the rich scientific and cultural heritage left by Muslim Civilisation for today’s generations. The 12-mintue mini-movie tells the story of three students who visit a library to research how the modern world has been influenced by the so-called “Dark Ages”. They meet the Librarian, who guides them on a journey of discovery about the ancient Golden Age and its pioneering inventors and scientists.

The 1001 Inventions exhibition is created by the UK-based organization “1001 Inventions” which works with a network of high profile international partners and the world’s leading academics to produce world-class experiences, blockbuster interactive exhibits, short feature films, live shows, books and classroom learning materials that are being used by hundreds of thousands of educators around the world.
